Dr Shafaque Shaikh is a Consultant General and Colorectal, Laparoscopic & Robotic Surgeon at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen. She holds a PhD in Surgery from the University of Aberdeen and completed her higher surgical training in Yorkshire, gaining experience at leading centres in UK such as St James’ University Hospital in Leeds and Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
She was awarded the prestigious Pelvic Floor and Intestinal Failure Fellowship at the world-renowned St Mark’s Hospital in London, where she developed advanced expertise in managing complex surgical cases and functional bowel disorders.
She is an accomplished leader, actively contributing to the development of Excellence in General/Colorectal & Robotic Surgery at a Global level. Her strength and experience are in setting up new Research, Training and Service Delivery Ecosystems alongside developing existing services with a focus on refinement to achieve efficiency across a broad remit including various members of multidisciplinary care pathways. The Harvard Surgical Leadership Programme has enhanced her leadership capabilities which she is utilising at an organisational level to establish high profile teams to improve patient outcomes.
